Metro Redux is heading to current-gen consoles later this month, with enhanced visuals, improved performance, and free upgrades for existing owners.
Deep Silver and 4A Games have announced that Metro Redux will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 29, 2026. The collection includes Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, with a free Next-Gen Update for PC arriving earlier on October 22.
Players who own the games on PS4 or Xbox One will receive a free upgrade.
Metro Redux Adds 4K and 120 FPS Support
The upcoming update isn’t a full remaster or remake. Instead, the developers have focused on improving the original experience with enhanced visuals, higher-quality audio, improved animations, and community-requested bug fixes.
On consoles, players can expect native 4K at 60 FPS or upscaled 4K at up to 120 FPS with compatible displays. The update also introduces improved lighting, shadows, particle effects, and 4K textures across all platforms.
PS5 Pro will receive PSSR support, while Xbox Series X features TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing. DualSense adaptive triggers and Xbox Impulse Triggers are also supported.
PC players will receive DLSS support, spatial audio, and additional quality-of-life improvements with the October 22 update.
Metro 2039 Is Also on the Horizon
The update gives newcomers an opportunity to experience the franchise ahead of Metro 2039, which Deep Silver referenced in its announcement.
Both Redux titles feature the series’ signature mix of atmospheric exploration, survival horror, and first-person combat, with the Karma system offering different outcomes depending on player choices.
Metro Redux launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 29, 2026, with the free PC update arriving October 22. Full patch notes will be shared closer to launch.
