Everything Announced During the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct

Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave

Nintendo has shared a fresh look at Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, revealing new gameplay mechanics, story details, classes, and a surprising new weapon type ahead of the game’s launch.

Here are the biggest announcements from the latest Direct.

Play All Four Protagonists in One Playthrough

Unlike Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Fortune’s Weave won’t require multiple playthroughs to experience each main storyline.

Players can switch between the game’s four protagonists Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora from a central hub known as The Pale Raven’s Perch, allowing all four campaigns to unfold within a single save file.

New Classes and Advanced Promotions

The traditional Fire Emblem class system returns with Beginner, Specialty, and Advanced tiers.

Characters can specialize in swords, spears, axes, bows, gauntlets, and magic before progressing into more powerful classes, including elephant riders, dragoons, and several other advanced units.

Yes… Fire Emblem Finally Has Guns

One of the biggest surprises of the presentation was the introduction of firearms.

Rather than functioning as ranged weapons like bows, guns are classified under the gauntlet weapon type and are designed for close-range combat. The weapons also appear to resemble modern firearms, making them one of the most unexpected additions in the series’ history.

Combat Arts return, allowing characters to unleash powerful attacks or support abilities in exchange for weapon durability.

Each of the four protagonists also has access to unique Blaze Arts, devastating abilities that consume health instead of durability.

  • Cai unleashes explosive fire attacks.
  • Dietrich can teleport across the battlefield.
  • Leda summons powerful creatures using music.
  • Theodora hurls massive boulders at distant enemies.

A Five-Year Time Skip

Following the opening chapters, the story jumps forward five years.

The world has fallen into chaos as the demon god Balor threatens the continent, while the four original protagonists have mysteriously disappeared.

Meet the Fifth Protagonist, Eshmel

Nintendo also revealed Eshmel, a previously unnamed white-haired character who becomes playable after the time skip.

Chosen by the goddess Sothis, Eshmel appears to be the central protagonist of the game’s second half and possesses the ability to travel through time with the help of the goddess Fortuna.

Your Choices Shape the Future

Following Balor’s arrival, players must decide whether to face the demon god directly or travel back in time to alter the events of the Heroic Games.

These decisions will influence the story, with players seemingly able to recruit one of the four original protagonists to join Eshmel’s journey, introducing branching paths reminiscent of Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
