Aspyr has confirmed that War in the North won’t be the last classic Lord of the Rings game to get a modern re-release.
Following the announcement of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition, it looks like even more classic games based on Middle-earth are on the way.
In the announcement, Aspyr teased that fans can expect additional classic Lord of the Rings releases in the future, although the studio stopped short of revealing exactly which games are being remastered.
That leaves plenty of room for speculation. Games like The Third Age, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, and The Battle for Middle-earth II would all be obvious choices for a modern return.
Aspyr has plenty of experience bringing older games back, having previously worked on remasters including Tomb Raider I–III, Tomb Raider IV–VI, and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see which trip back to Middle-earth is next. But fingers crossed its the movie tie in games.
