A growing number of open positions suggest development on the next Gran Turismo is ramping up.
Polyphony Digital is hiring for a wide range of positions related to the Gran Turismo series, providing further hints that work on the studio’s next major project is progressing.
The studio is currently recruiting for roles including Online Engineer, Racing Game Programmer, Graphics Programmer, Game AI Programmer, Vehicle Simulation Programmer, Game Engine Programmer, UI Designer, CG Artist and Technical Artist, among others.
One particularly notable listing is for a Vehicle Simulation Programmer, who will work on improving Gran Turismo’s vehicle simulation engine and recreating the unique mechanisms of individual cars.
Polyphony previously confirmed that it was hiring staff for the production of “Gran Turismo,” but has not officially announced Gran Turismo 8. The next project is therefore widely presumed to be the series’ next numbered entry, although its title and release date remain unconfirmed.
With Gran Turismo 7 continuing to receive support, these new positions could indicate that Polyphony is preparing the next major evolution of its long-running racing franchise.
