AC 20th

Ubisoft outlines the future of Assassin’s Creed, confirms New Game+ for Valhalla, shares updates on upcoming projects and prepares for the franchise’s 20th anniversary in 2027.

Ubisoft has shared a new update on the future of Assassin’s Creed, with Head of Content Jean Guesdon outlining what’s happening across the franchise, including upcoming games, existing titles and its Netflix live-action adaptation.

The October 2026 update also brings some welcome news for fans, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla finally receiving its long-requested New Game+ mode on November 5.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gets New Game+ on November 5

Following its milestone of surpassing 40 million players, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting a substantial new update featuring New Game+.

The mode will allow players to begin Eivor’s journey again while carrying over much of their existing progression, with dedicated scaling for the new playthrough.

The update will also introduce an optional progression system where Gear, Runes and Masteries contribute towards Eivor’s overall Power. Additional additions include new runes, achievements, a stash system and Mithril, a new resource used to upgrade Divine Gear and strengthen runes.

Players can also unlock new rewards, including a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Ubisoft says further details will arrive alongside the upcoming patch notes, including information on current-generation console updates.

Black Flag Resynced Receives Its Final Major Update

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has received its final major content update following its July 9 launch.

Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, the update introduces New Game+, Nightmare Mode, additional rewards, new finishers, trinkets and further customisation options.

Among the new cosmetic additions are Blackbeard’s iconic outfit and Edward’s London attire, alongside fresh customisation options for the Jackdaw and its crew.

While this marks the end of planned major content updates, Ubisoft confirmed that quality-of-life improvements will continue over the coming months.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Update Coming in 2027

Ubisoft also provided updates on several projects currently in development, including Codename Hexe and Codename Invictus.

Codename Hexe, described as a darker Assassin’s Creed experience, is making steady progress. However, Ubisoft acknowledged that there is still work to be done, confirming that its next major update will arrive sometime in 2027.

Meanwhile, Codename Invictus, the franchise’s upcoming multiplayer project, has undergone changes following feedback from hundreds of players who participated in private testing sessions.

Players responded positively to its PvP multiplayer foundations, particularly its parkour, verticality, teamplay and playable Assassin characters. However, feedback also highlighted a desire for more of the traditional pillars that define Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft says the development team has spent recent months addressing that feedback and evolving the project accordingly.

No Other Assassin’s Creed Remakes Currently in Development

Following the announcement of Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft has also addressed growing speculation surrounding potential remakes of other entries in the franchise.

The publisher confirmed that no other Assassin’s Creed remakes are currently in active development.

Ubisoft explained that the experience of rebuilding Black Flag has provided valuable lessons, particularly when it comes to modernising older systems while maintaining the identity of the original games.

While there are currently no additional remakes in production, Ubisoft hasn’t ruled out revisiting older entries in the future.

The company also teased that its development teams are working on other upcoming Assassin’s Creed projects featuring new settings and stories that have yet to be announced.

Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed Series Nears Production Completion

Outside of gaming, Ubisoft confirmed that production on Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series is nearing completion in Rome, Italy.

Jean Guesdon recently visited the set, where he consulted on scripts and met with the show’s creative team.

The series has also brought award-winning composer Hannah Peel on board to create its musical score. Peel’s previous work includes Insomnia, Rogue Agent and Game of Thrones: The Last Watch.

No release date has been announced, with Ubisoft keeping further details under wraps for now.

Assassin’s Creed Celebrates 20 Years in 2027

Finally, Ubisoft is preparing to celebrate 20 years of Assassin’s Creed in 2027.

The publisher has revealed a special anniversary logo and confirmed plans for a year of announcements, updates, rewards and community-focused celebrations.

Ubisoft says the anniversary will put players at the centre of the festivities, recognising the community’s contribution to the franchise over the past two decades.

The publisher has also launched another Community Survey, following feedback from thousands of players earlier this year. Three key areas stood out: preserving the franchise’s identity, maintaining a coherent narrative and improving communication between Ubisoft and its community.

Ubisoft is also planning closed-door workshops with selected community members and content creators to bring player feedback closer to development teams.

With Valhalla receiving one final major feature, Hexe targeting another update in 2027 and the franchise approaching its 20th anniversary, Ubisoft appears focused on rebuilding momentum for Assassin’s Creed while laying the groundwork for its next generation of games.

You can read the full franchise update on the official Assassin’s Creed website.
