Ghostlore Developer Announces Shadow Rush, a Kingdom Hearts-Inspired Action RPG

Solo developer Andrew Teo has unveiled a new isometric hack-and-slash RPG featuring fast-paced combat, six playable characters and a unique ability-shifting system.

Andrew Teo, the solo developer behind Ghostlore, has announced Shadow Rush, a new isometric action RPG coming to PC via Steam.

Taking inspiration from Diablo and Kingdom Hearts, Shadow Rush focuses on short, intense combat encounters, character customisation and experimenting with different ability combinations. Its character designs also draw influence from Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura.

At the centre of its combat is a four-phase ability system. Players equip four abilities, which automatically cycle as they attack or dash, creating opportunities to build combinations and adapt their approach during encounters.

Abilities are collected through Shards, which can be equipped, removed and transferred between characters. Players can mix and match different Shards to create builds focused on particular spells, attacks and combat effects.

There will be six playable characters, each featuring a unique weapon and combat style. Players can switch between them and experiment with different Shard combinations across repeated runs.

However, players will need to keep moving. Each arena features a time-based threat, with a massive wave of darkness gradually consuming the environment. Enemies must be defeated and encounters cleared before the darkness catches up, otherwise the run ends in a game over.
