Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Details Revealed, Introducing New Weapons, DMZ Content and Battle Pass Changes

Season 1 brings four new weapons, expanded DMZ content, a revamped Battle Pass progression system and plenty of rewards across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.

Activision has unveiled its first major look at Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, detailing a substantial content update spanning Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.

Players can look forward to new weapons, weapon attachments, Operators, limited-time events and additional DMZ content, alongside changes to the Battle Pass progression system.

Four New Weapons Arrive in Season 1

Season 1 introduces four new weapons, with two available through the Battle Pass at launch and two arriving later in the season.

The Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle and CSG-35 SMG headline the launch additions. The Cronen Osprey features an impressive 882 RPM fire rate, while the CSG-35 pushes things further with a blistering 1,200 RPM, making it particularly effective in close-quarters encounters.

Later in the season, players can unlock the fully automatic JAK 12 Shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk Combat Axe through in-game events.

New weapon attachments are also on the way, including Apex Attachments that introduce additional ways to customise existing weapons. Highlights include dual-wielding CSG-35 SMGs, converting the Hyeon Burst into a fully automatic rifle and giving the M4 access to burst-fire functionality.

DMZ Receives New Content and Challenges

DMZ is also receiving considerable attention in Season 1, with the introduction of new orders and additional activities inside the X01 facility.

Players will receive guidance from Ghost, who will act as their operational contact throughout X01, providing updates, highlighting threats and directing Operators deeper into the facility.

Activision is keeping several details classified for now, including new enemies, items and equipment. However, X01 will feature exclusive equipment and valuable gear that players can potentially extract during deployments.

The Forward Operating Base is also receiving additional stations and improvements, including a Battle Pass and Store Station, a 3D Printer and a new Vendor offering additional weapons and equipment to eligible BlackCell owners.

New boss encounters will also be available, including Tae-Hyun, known as Knuckle, Chol-Min, known as The Wrench, The Captain and an autonomous Wheelson.

Season 1 will introduce several DMZ events, including Threat Briefings that challenge squads to hunt down major targets across Hajin and X01. Players will also be able to participate in Resupply Run, an event focused on locating specific items and trading them for valuable equipment.

New Wager Match Event and Seasonal Rewards

Season 1 kicks off with the Wager Match Event, available across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.

Players will collect Trophies by completing challenges, with rewards including weapon attachments, Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints and Camos. Multiplayer players can compete in the Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight playlist, while DMZ and Warzone feature their own challenges.

Additional events will arrive throughout the season, including Weapon Camo Events and the Joint Fire Event, which encourages players to squad up for increased XP progression and additional rewards.

Battle Pass Gets a Major Overhaul

The Season 1 Battle Pass introduces a streamlined 100-tier linear progression system, replacing the more traditional approach with a straightforward reward track.

One of the biggest changes is a new catch-up system for premium Battle Pass owners. Players who fall behind will automatically catch up to the reward corresponding with the current day of the season, up to Day 50.

The standard Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points, while the Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points and includes additional progression benefits.

Completing all 100 tiers will unlock several rewards, including the Vantage Operator Skin for Blix, a Blue Viper Weapon Blueprint for the Hyeon Burst, 200 COD Points and a DMZ Survival Kit.

The Tier 100 reward is the Bellum Ultra-rarity Mosin-Nagant Weapon Blueprint.

BlackCell Introduces Operator XERO

BlackCell returns for Season 1, introducing a new Operator named XERO alongside exclusive weapon blueprints, cosmetics and additional rewards.

BlackCell owners will immediately unlock XERO, alongside 1,100 COD Points, 20 Tier Skip Tokens, a selection of exclusive weapon blueprints, a companion Finishing Move and access to a dedicated Mastery Camo track.

Additional BlackCell rewards include seven Operator Skins and seven Weapon Blueprints throughout the Battle Pass.

Players who purchase the Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition will also receive access to the Season 1 BlackCell offering.

Supporting Veterans Through the C.O.D.E. Valor Pack

Finally, Activision is continuing its partnership with the Call of Duty Endowment through the new C.O.D.E. Valor Pack.

Created in collaboration with U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter, the pack celebrates his story of courage and sacrifice.

Activision will donate 100% of its net proceeds from the pack, excluding VAT and sales tax, to the Call of Duty Endowment, which helps U.S. and U.K. veterans find employment after military service.

Season 1 looks set to deliver a sizeable content drop for Modern Warfare 4, with plenty of new additions across all three major modes. More details on the mid-season update and additional events are expected to arrive as the season progresses.
