Unicorn Overlord Director Announces New Action RPG DAWNGAZER for PS5, PC, and Switch 2

Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company have announced DAWNGAZER, a brand-new action RPG led by Unicorn Overlord director Takafumi Noma. The game is scheduled to launch in 2028 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

DAWNGAZER is the debut title from IGNISPHERE Studio, a new development team led by Noma following his departure from Vanillaware in March 2025. Alongside directing and designing characters for Unicorn Overlord, Noma previously worked on titles including 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Dragon’s Crown Pro, and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir.

DAWNGAZER Kicks Off New Original Fantasy IP

Details surrounding DAWNGAZER remain limited, but an announcement teaser offers an early look at its medieval fantasy setting, characters, and visual style.

The game’s soundtrack will be composed by Yoshimi Kudo, whose previous credits include Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring.

DAWNGAZER is also the first project under IGNISPHERE, a new original intellectual property launched by Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company as part of Monochrome’s 15th anniversary celebrations.

The companies plan to develop an expansive fantasy universe featuring multiple countries and races, with plans to expand the property beyond gaming through collectible figures and light novels published by Kadokawa.

DAWNGAZER Targets 2028 Release

While further gameplay details have yet to be revealed, DAWNGAZER is currently targeting a 2028 release on PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game will support English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

With Noma leading a new studio and an original fantasy universe in development, DAWNGAZER is one to watch for fans of Unicorn Overlord and Japanese RPGs. More information is expected through the official IGNISPHERE X account as development continues.
