Alright, this is going to be as straight to the point as possible. LG, have created an operating system for vehicles called LG Automotive Content Platform (ACP) which is powered by their webOS.
Underneath the ACP platform, is a bunch of technology and software that is made to run on Software Defined Vehicles or software used to create software for said platform.
One of the pillars of this platform is LG PlayWare which is designed to be an all-in-one entertainment solution for vehicles:
LG PlayWare encompasses a suite of in-cabin entertainment solutions, including LG’s Automotive Content Platform (ACP) and artificial intelligence (AI) Sound for an immersive audio experience. It delivers premium in-cabin entertainment by offering easy and seamless access to a broad array of high-quality and diverse global and regional content, including video streaming, music, gaming, and location-based services, while also integrating additional features that enhance the overall user experience inside the vehicle.
What Xbox has announced, is an Xbox Cloud Streaming app for LG PlayWare that will allow you to stream Xbox Games just like you would to a phone, TV or PC/Xbox.
Depending on the car this will be ideal for passengers on long road trips or for chilling at an EV charging station, the latter of which seems more likely given 5G coverage on road trips in Australia.
LG has ambitious plans to expand their platform to many car makes and models but I cannot find a definitive list of cars in Australia that are supported (if there are any!?).
LG and Kia recently announced that the platform will be hitting the European EV3, EV4, EV5 & Sportage soon.
