Quick Notes
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for PC are getting price decreases
- Future Call of Duty games will be added to the services about a year after launch
- Existing Call of Duty titles to remain on the service
New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has announced via Twitter and an Xbox Wire changes to the Ultimate and PC versions of Xbox Game Pass.
Starting from today, in AUD:
– Game Pass Ultimate drops from $35.95 to $25.95 monthly.
(Up from $22.95 last year)
– Game Pass for PC drops from $19.45 to $16.95 monthly.
(Up from $13.95 last year)
As a result of the price drop, Call of Duty will no longer launch day one onto Xbox Game Pass:
Beginning this year, future Call of Duty titles won’t join Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. New Call of Duty games will be added to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass during the following holiday season (about a year later), while existing Call of Duty titles already in the library will continue to be available.
The napkin math is an annual saving of $120 AUD for Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers, which is close to the price of Call of Duty, so for CoD players the value of Game Pass + Call of Duty remains roughly the same plus you keep the game, and for players not interested in playing Call of Duty within a year of launch, this is a huge value increase.
