Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold Expansion Announced, Launching January 2027

Final Fantasy XIV is officially heading into its next major era.

During the 2026 Fan Festival, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold the game’s sixth expansion, set to launch in January 2027 across all current platforms.

A New Saga Begins

Evercold marks the beginning of a brand-new story arc titled the “Godless Realms Saga,” following the conclusion of the long-running Hydaelyn/Zodiark storyline.

Players will journey to “The Fourth,” a new reflection of the world that has fallen into ruin consumed by an ever-encroaching icy catastrophe.

First Look & Story Tease

The reveal trailer sets a darker, colder tone, showcasing a frozen world and hinting at a myth-like tale of the Warrior of Light arriving to save a dying realm.

What’s Coming

While full details are still being held back for future Fan Festival reveals, early information suggests:

• A level cap increase to 110
• New jobs (yet to be fully revealed)
• New cities, dungeons, raids, and large-scale encounters
• Ongoing system and battle updates aimed at evolving gameplay
