Pearl Abyss has rewarded its employees with a 5 million won (roughly $3,400 USD) bonus following a major sales milestone for Crimson Desert.
The bonus comes as the game has officially surpassed 5 million copies sold, marking a significant achievement for the studio and one of its biggest commercial successes to date.
While bonus pay-outs aren’t uncommon in the industry after major launches, this move highlights Pearl Abyss’ effort to directly share the success with its development teams, recognising the scale of work behind a project like Crimson Desert.
The studio is best known for its work on Black Desert, but Crimson Desert represents a major step forward both in scope and ambition blending large-scale open-world design with cinematic storytelling.
And with 5 million copies already behind it, this milestone doesn’t just validate the game it reinforces Pearl Abyss as a studio that’s starting to hit its stride on a much bigger stage. And in this case, that win is landing directly in employees’ pockets.
