Nintendo and Monolith Soft have officially announced Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of the entire Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy, beginning with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Mouthful), which is available now digitally.
The enhanced version upgrades the acclaimed RPG with 4K resolution in TV mode, 1080p handheld gameplay, and 60 FPS performance, alongside smoother cutscenes and additional content. Existing Switch owners can upgrade for $9.99, while a physical edition launches on July 30.
Nintendo also confirmed release dates for the remaining games in the series:
- Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – Available now digitally, physical release July 30
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – Digital release July 30, physical release October 1
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – Digital and physical release December 3
Beyond visual upgrades, each title includes new content exclusive to the Switch 2 versions. Definitive Edition adds the Ether Jet vehicle and fully voiced Heart-to-Heart conversations, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 introduces a new Rare Blade and battle mode, while Xenoblade Chronicles 3 features a new Hero, additional quest content, and a new defensive battle mode.
For RPG fans, the announcement means one of Nintendo’s most celebrated franchises is receiving a complete next-generation upgrade, with all three adventures arriving on Switch 2 by the end of 2026.
