Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will launch for PC via Steam on September 17, publisher Deep Silver and developer KING Art Games have announced.
Players who purchase the Commander Edition will gain early access starting September 14, alongside several bonus extras including:
- A digital soundtrack
- Access to upcoming DLC packs The Blood Ravens Story Prologue and AFTERMATH
The long-awaited RTS sequel marks a major return to the franchise’s classic roots, focusing on large-scale strategy gameplay, base building, and brutal battlefield combat set in the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000.
One of the biggest additions is the debut of the Adeptus Mechanicus as a fully playable faction in the Dawn of War series. Players will also command:
- Space Marines
- Orks
- Necrons
The game features more than 70 campaign missions, with the story co-written by acclaimed Black Library author John French. Both solo and co-op campaign play will be supported, complete with CGI cinematics and fully animated cutscenes.
Classic features are also returning, including:
- Base building and squad specialization
- The fan-favorite Last Stand mode
- Skirmish battles against AI
- Multiplayer support for 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 matches
- Expanded Sync Kill animations for brutal melee combat
Players will also be able to customize their armies using a new Painter tool inspired by the tabletop hobby side of Warhammer 40K.
The announcement follows growing momentum for the franchise after the massive success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and the upcoming Warhammer Skulls 2026 showcase.
