Wizards of the Coast has officially canceled its publishing agreement with Giant Skull for the studio’s in-development Dungeons & Dragons action adventure game.
The project was originally announced in 2025 and was being led by Stig Asmussen, best known for directing God of War III and the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order series.
According to a statement provided to Bloomberg, Wizards of the Coast said the company evaluates projects “at every stage of development” and ultimately decided not to move forward with Giant Skull’s early concept.
“While we decided not to pursue an early concept from Giant Skull, we have great respect for Stig Asmussen and his team and value our ongoing relationship.”
The cancellation reportedly comes as part of a broader internal restructuring at Wizards of the Coast, which also included the closure of subsidiary studio Atomic Arcade.
Despite the setback, Asmussen says Giant Skull remains in a strong position and is already discussing potential publishing opportunities with both Wizards of the Coast and other companies.
“Things are good at Giant Skull,” Asmussen said.
While the project never received official gameplay details, it was expected to be a cinematic single-player action-adventure set within the Dungeons & Dragons universe.
