Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has officially been revealed by Activision and Infinity Ward, taking the long-running shooter franchise into one of its darkest and most politically charged settings yet.
The game centers around a rapidly escalating conflict on the Korean Peninsula, where a full-scale invasion of South Korea threatens to push the world toward global war. Infinity Ward says the campaign will focus heavily on political tension, covert military operations, and grounded modern warfare storytelling.
Players will experience the conflict through multiple perspectives, including a new protagonist named Private Park, a young Korean soldier thrown into the chaos of the invasion. According to Infinity Ward, his campaign arc follows a “zero to hero” journey as he and his squad attempt to survive overwhelming enemy forces.
Meanwhile, franchise veteran Captain Price returns in a drastically different role. Rather than leading Task Force 141 through official operations, Price reportedly forms a rogue alliance and operates outside military command structures as the conflict spirals out of control.
The campaign will span multiple global locations beyond Korea, including missions set in:
- New York City
- Paris
- Mumbai
Infinity Ward says players can expect large-scale trench warfare, SAS night raids, close-quarters combat, and cinematic high-speed pursuits throughout the campaign.
On the multiplayer side, Modern Warfare 4 is being positioned as a major technical leap for the franchise. Built exclusively for current-generation consoles and PC, the game introduces:
- Removal of bloom mechanics
- Expanded field-of-view options
- Movement system improvements
- Enhanced responsiveness and visual fidelity
DMZ is also officially returning, with Activision describing it as “the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
