Gundam Rogue Orbit Announced set in an original Gundam universe

Bandai Namco has officially unveiled Gundam Rogue Orbit, a brand-new action game set in an original Gundam universe, with a release planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2027.

Revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026, Gundam Rogue Orbit promises to deliver a fresh interpretation of the long-running mecha franchise, placing a heavy emphasis on high-speed movement, cinematic battles, and large-scale encounters against overwhelming odds.

Rather than revisiting established timelines such as the Universal Century or Cosmic Era, Rogue Orbit introduces an entirely new setting, new characters, and a new conflict designed to welcome newcomers while giving long-time Gundam fans something different from previous entries.

Players will take control of RE-X, an ace pilot thrust into humanity’s desperate struggle for survival against a mysterious enemy force. Piloting the advanced Gundam Helix, RE-X joins a rag-tag group of soldiers fighting on the frontlines as civilization faces extinction.

According to Bandai Namco, the game’s combat will focus on fast-paced, high-mobility action that rewards precision, mastery, and quick decision-making. The reveal trailer showcased Gundam Helix darting across battlefields, engaging in close-quarters melee combat, unleashing devastating attacks, and taking on enormous enemy units in sprawling environments.

The publisher describes Rogue Orbit as a “high-mobility action game” built around cinematic encounters and intense boss battles. While details remain limited, the project appears to lean heavily into action-focused gameplay rather than the tactical or strategy-based experiences that some Gundam titles have explored in the past.

One of the biggest selling points is the game’s entirely original storyline.
