Monster Hunter Wilds Gets Permanent Price Cut Ahead of 2027 ‘Ascendance’ Expansion

Capcom is making it easier for new hunters to jump into Monster Hunter Wilds, announcing a permanent price reduction for the base game ahead of its planned 2027 “Ascendance” expansion.

Beginning August 4, 2026, the standard edition of Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a permanent price cut in Japan, dropping from 8,990 yen to 4,990 yen (tax included). The new price works out to roughly $44 AUD, slashing the game’s original retail price by nearly half.

Capcom says the move is designed to welcome both newcomers and returning players as the studio continues supporting the game ahead of its next major expansion.

Deluxe Editions Being Retired

The publisher also confirmed that several existing editions of Monster Hunter Wilds will be discontinued on August 4.

The following products will no longer be available for purchase:

• Deluxe Edition
• Premium Deluxe Edition
• Cosmetic DLC Pass

Players who already own any of these editions will retain access to all previously purchased content, and individual cosmetic DLC packs will continue to be sold separately.

Replacing the outgoing versions are two new bundles aimed at offering more streamlined purchasing options.

Capcom will introduce:

• Gold Edition, which bundles the base game with additional downloadable content.
• Cosmetic DLC Collection, combining several cosmetic packs into a single purchase.

The new editions are expected to provide an easier way for players to pick up both the game and its optional cosmetic content without purchasing multiple separate add-ons.

Preparing for Ascendance

The pricing changes come as Capcom prepares for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a major expansion scheduled to launch in 2027. While details on the expansion remain limited, the permanent price cut suggests the publisher is looking to grow the player base well ahead of its release.

Capcom has yet to confirm whether the reduced pricing announced for Japan will be extended to North America, Europe, or other regions.
