The physical Revered Edition of Mortal Shell 2 for PlayStation 5 has proven to be more popular than anticipated, with developer Playstack confirming that demand has outpaced supply across multiple regions ahead of the game’s launch next month.
In a statement shared on the studio’s official social media channels, Playstack revealed that retailer allocations for the PS5-exclusive physical edition have now been fully reserved in a growing number of markets. As a result, many players hoping to secure the collector-focused release are no longer able to place a pre-order.
The developer also warned that anyone waiting for additional stock before launch may be out of luck.
According to Playstack, the game’s August 20 release date leaves very little time to manufacture and distribute another production run. Because of the lead time required for physical printing and shipping, the studio says the chances of more copies arriving before release are “very low.”
“Demand for the PS5 physical Revered Edition of Mortal Shell II has exceeded expectations and unfortunately supply across a number of retailers has now been fully reserved.”
The team apologized to fans who missed out on securing a copy, acknowledging that many players had planned to pre-order the edition but found it unavailable in their territory.
While Playstack says it is actively reviewing demand with its distribution partner, the developer stopped short of promising another print run.
Instead, it clarified that any decision regarding additional stock after launch ultimately rests with its publishing and distribution partners, meaning there is currently no guarantee that the Revered Edition will return to store shelves once the initial allocation sells out.
Whether that demand results in a second production run remains to be seen, but for now, anyone hoping to add the Revered Edition to their collection may want to keep a close eye on retailer stock updates over the coming weeks.

With launch now just over a month away, Playstack says it will provide another update once discussions with its distribution partner have concluded. Until then, collectors who missed the initial allocation may have to rely on cancellations or hope that a restock is eventually approved.
