PlayStation Plus August Line-up Is Packed With Big Games

PlayStation Plus subscribers have a pretty strong month ahead of them.

Sony has revealed the August 2026 lineup for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog, and there’s a surprisingly healthy mix of recent releases, major AAA games and older favourites heading to the service.

The biggest addition is arguably Helldivers 2, which is available to PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers from today, August 12, worldwide. The timing is particularly convenient, as its arrival coincides with a major new update for Arrowhead’s cooperative shooter.

The Game Catalog will receive even more additions on August 18, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Vampire Survivors, Hell is Us, Metro Exodus, Two Point Museum, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, and Umamusume Pretty Derby – Party Dash.

That makes August a particularly good month for anyone with a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscription who has been looking for something new to play.

Helldivers 2 Is Available Now

The headline addition is Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Game Studios’ chaotic cooperative shooter that puts players in the boots of Super Earth’s finest soldiers.

Up to four players can team up and head into hostile territory, taking on waves of alien enemies with increasingly ridiculous weapons and stratagems. Of course, the game’s famous friendly-fire system means your biggest threat isn’t always the enemy standing in front of you.

The addition is available worldwide from August 12 for PlayStation Plus Extra members on PS5.

It also arrives alongside a major update, making this a pretty convenient excuse for anyone who has yet to jump into Helldivers 2 to finally see what all the fuss is about.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Leads the August 18 Additions

Perhaps the biggest game joining the catalog on August 18 is Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Warhorse Studios’ open-world RPG returns players to 15th-century Bohemia, once again putting Henry of Skalitz at the centre of a story filled with revenge, political intrigue and medieval violence.

Unlike a lot of modern open-world RPGs, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 puts a considerable amount of emphasis on authenticity. Combat is deliberate, exploration is grounded in its setting and Henry’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming embroiled in the affairs of powerful figures forms the backbone of the adventure.

For anyone who somehow skipped one of the bigger RPGs of 2025, its arrival on PlayStation Plus is an excellent opportunity to rectify that.

Vampire Survivors Is Coming Too

If spending dozens of hours in medieval Bohemia sounds like work, Vampire Survivors offers a considerably simpler proposition: kill an absurd number of monsters and try not to die.

The roguelite phenomenon arrives on both PS5 and PS4 on August 18.

Its premise is deceptively simple. You move around the screen, your character attacks automatically, and your job is essentially to survive increasingly ridiculous waves of enemies while building an increasingly broken arsenal of abilities.

It is the kind of game that can swallow an evening without you even noticing.

Dying Light 2, Hell Is Us and Metro Exodus Round Out the Heavy Hitters

August 18 also brings several other notable additions.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will join the Game Catalog on PS5 and PS4, giving subscribers another chance to explore its zombie-infested open world. Players take control of Aiden Caldwell as he navigates a world where surviving the infected is only part of the problem.

There is also Hell is Us, the atmospheric third-person action-adventure game from Rogue Factor. The game combines melee combat with exploration across a semi-open world, while deliberately avoiding the usual hand-holding found in many modern adventures.

Then there’s Metro Exodus, which remains one of the stronger post-apocalyptic shooters of the past decade. Its combination of stealth, survival horror, exploration and first-person shooting makes it a particularly worthwhile addition for anyone who missed it.

The Classics Catalog Gets Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers aren’t being left out either.

The Classics Catalog is receiving two additions on August 18, including Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire for PS5 and PS4.

The original PlayStation adventure based on Disney’s animated film has been enhanced with modern features including up-rendering, rewind, quick save and custom video filters.

But the more interesting addition for long-time PlayStation fans is undoubtedly Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

Originally released for PlayStation 2, Dawn of Dreams is the fourth mainline entry in Capcom’s Onimusha series and shifts the focus to Soki, a young warrior who becomes caught up in another supernatural conflict involving the Genma.

Set after the death of Oda Nobunaga, the game explores a Japan where the apparent end of the Genma threat doesn’t exactly result in the peace everyone was hoping for.

The arrival is particularly well timed given the renewed interest in the Onimusha series following Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

For fans who never got around to playing Dawn of Dreams during the PS2 era, this is a pretty good opportunity to finally experience one of the more unusual entries in the franchise.

Overall, August looks like a particularly solid month for PlayStation Plus. Between Helldivers 2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hell is Us and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, there is enough variety here to keep just about every type of PlayStation player occupied.

And honestly, adding Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams to the Classics Catalog might be the most exciting part of the entire lineup for long-time fans Including Me.
