Phantom Blade Zero Getting New Gameplay in State of Play

Phantom Blade Zero is finally ready to show off more of what makes it tick.

S-Game has announced a special State of Play gameplay deep dive dedicated entirely to the upcoming action game, giving players an extended look at its combat systems, character builds and dark wuxia-inspired world.

It will run for nearly 20 minutes and focus specifically on new gameplay, combat systems, builds and previously unseen characters. PlayStation officially lists the broadcast as August 17 at 7:00 PM PT, which converts to August 18 in Australia.

Unlike the game’s recent pre-order trailer, S-Game says this presentation will dig much deeper into the actual gameplay. That includes the game’s dynamic combat system, progression and build variety, as well as a closer look at the mysterious world known as the Phantom World.

Phantom Blade Zero Is Now Available to Pre-Order

Alongside the State of Play announcement, pre-orders for Phantom Blade Zero are officially live. The game is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5.

Players who pre-order will receive early access to the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy outfit. Both items will also be obtainable through normal in-game progression, meaning the bonuses aren’t permanently locked behind a pre-order.

Donnie Yen Is Involved in Phantom Blade Zero

One of the more interesting details surrounding Phantom Blade Zero is the involvement of martial arts icon Donnie Yen.

Yen has served as a creative consultant on the project since 2023, bringing his experience in martial arts and action filmmaking to the game’s combat design. He’s also performing facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan, the father of the game’s protagonist, Soul.

Given how heavily Phantom Blade Zero leans into wuxia-inspired martial arts, Yen’s involvement could prove particularly important in helping S-Game nail the game’s sense of movement and choreography.

Phantom Blade Zero launches October 29, 2026, on PS5.
