Nintendo has announced Metroid Ravenous, a brand-new 2D side-scrolling action-adventure starring Samus Aran.
The game is set to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027.
While Nintendo hasn’t revealed many details about the new adventure yet, the company describes Metroid Ravenous as a game where Samus will have to fight to survive in an experience built around the idea of “eat or be eaten.”
That could point toward some interesting new mechanics for the long-running series, although Nintendo has yet to explain exactly how the concept will factor into gameplay.
Metroid Ravenous Amiibo Revealed
Nintendo is also launching a new Metroid Ravenous amiibo lineup alongside the game.
At launch, players will be able to pick up individual Samus and Chozo Statue amiibo figures.
A third figure, Samus (Metroid Suit), will be exclusive to a special edition of the game. The Special Edition will include a copy of Metroid Ravenous, a steel game case, and the Metroid Suit Samus amiibo.
Nintendo has yet to reveal additional details about the adventure, but with its January 2027 release date now confirmed, Metroid Ravenous won’t be too far away.
