Xbox is now publishing Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT after PlayStation steps away

PHYSINT being published by Xbox

In an announcement across many channels, it has been shared that PlayStation is no longer publishing Kojima Productions’ PHYSINT and after spending a few months looking for a new partner, Xbox will now be publishing the game.

Announced at the January 2024 State of Play but not confirmed to be in full production at the time, we speculate that PHYSINT is still two to three years away, but the full scope of the project remains unknown.

Xbox already has ties to Kojima Productions as the publishing partner for the upcoming horror game “OD” announced back in 2022.

“Creators have choices about where and how they bring their ideas to life. We’re honored that Kojima-san has chosen XBOX to work with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on PHYSINT. His ambition to challenge conventions reflects the kind of creativity we want to support at XBOX,” said Asha Sharma, XBOX CEO.

“This expands our relationship with XBOX beyond OD. As we move forward with the development of PHYSINT, we remain committed to redefining the action-espionage genre for players around the world,” said Hideo Kojima, Game Creator and Founder of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS.

Xbox also confirmed that the partnership will extend beyond games with film and television included but what that looks like yet, remains to be seen.

It’s good to see the game continue development, and great for Xbox that they didn’t miss the moment. Hopefully we get some more info on the game sooner, rather than later.
