Another first-party PlayStation title has quietly reached the end of the road.
Sony has officially removed Destruction AllStars from the PlayStation Store, effectively ending digital distribution of the 2021 multiplayer-focused vehicle combat game developed by Lucid Games.
According to an email sent to players, the game’s online services remain offline due to ongoing technical issues, meaning multiplayer functionality is no longer available. Given that Destruction AllStars was built around online competition, the shutdown significantly impacts the overall experience.
The good news for existing owners is that the game’s single-player content isn’t disappearing immediately. Single-player modes will remain accessible until November 25, after which only limited offline functionality through certain arcade modes will remain.
Originally planned as a PlayStation 5 launch title in 2020, Destruction AllStars was delayed before eventually launching in 2021. Sony heavily promoted the title during the early days of the PS5 and even offered it through PlayStation Plus, but the game struggled to maintain a long-term player base.
Its removal continues a difficult period for live-service titles across the industry. In recent years, several online-focused games have been shut down as publishers reassess their live-service strategies, including Sony’s own Concord.
While Destruction AllStars never became the breakout multiplayer hit Sony had hoped for, its shutdown marks another reminder of the challenges facing live-service games, particularly those that rely heavily on online communities to survive.
