Square Enix is set to release Dragon Quest Smash/Grow on April 21, marking the next step for the series’ new mobile spin-off.

The game is a roguelite RPG built for iOS and Android, offering a more action-focused take on the traditional Dragon Quest formula. Players smash through waves of enemies, build strength on the fly, and unleash signature Coup de Grâce attacks, with randomized “Blessings” shaping each run.

Originally announced for a 2026 global release, the title has already gone through a closed beta phase, with Square Enix positioning it as a more replayable, run-based experience compared to mainline entries.

While April 21 appears to be the initial rollout date, it’s currently unclear how that launch will be handled globally, or whether all regions will receive the game at the same time.

For now, Dragon Quest Smash/Grow looks like another push from Square Enix to expand the franchise into the mobile live-service space, blending familiar mechanics with a faster, more repeatable gameplay loop.

More details especially around regional availability are expected closer to launch.
