Recouped all of it’s costs across all platforms

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire

PlaySide Studios has announced that MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has officially sold approximately 730,000 units across all platforms since launch, with console players now accounting for 50% of total sales.

The black-and-white cartoon-inspired shooter continues to build momentum commercially, generating an estimated US$21.4 million (roughly A$29.7 million) in gross platform sales so far. According to PlaySide, the company has reported approximately US$13 million (A$18.1 million) in net revenue after platform fees, VAT, and returns.

One of the biggest indicators of the game’s continued momentum is its rapidly growing wishlist count. Total wishlists have now climbed to 3 million across all platforms, up significantly from 2.08 million during the previous update and 1.73 million at launch.

Player reception has also remained extremely strong:

  • A 94% “Very Positive” rating on Steam
  • Near-perfect user scores on PlayStation Store
  • Strong ratings across Xbox Marketplace

PlaySide also confirmed that costs tied to milestone payments, publishing, and marketing have now been fully recouped under the game’s publishing agreement. That means future sales are expected to generate stronger direct cash inflows for the company moving forward.

As a result of the game’s performance, PlaySide has upgraded its FY26 revenue guidance to between A$50 million and A$53 million, surpassing its previous expectations.

CEO Benn Skender credited the game’s success to strong player engagement, continued visibility across storefronts, and the strength of the IP itself, while reaffirming the studio’s commitment to supporting the title long-term.

The company also highlighted its broader publishing roadmap, which includes projects such as Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, future entries in the Dumb Ways to Die series, and the upcoming title Dew.

The 1-Up Games review of Mouse: P.I For Hire can be found here, where we said:

“For fans of boomer shooters, noir storytelling, or classic animation aesthetics, this is an easy recommendation. More importantly, it proves that Mouse was never just a stylish trailer chasing viral attention. Against the odds, Fumi Games delivered a game with real substance behind the style, and that makes Jack Pepper’s first case worth investigating.”
